From the moment Janice shared with me that she was writing a book to assist educators improve the care and education of children in Early Childhood Services, I knew it would be a labour of love!
It’s over thirty years since I graduated from Macquarie University and begun my career as an Early Childhood Teacher. I will always remember thinking and feeling totally underprepared.
In An Educators Handbook, Janice shares her wisdom and knowledge from her own experience and those who’ve had the privilege of working with her. From everyday life such as navigating the staff room, to preparing for that terrifying experience of the centre being accredited, Janice uses fact, humour, real life examples, photos and children’s art to guide, encourage, love, support and inspire everyone working with children.
This book will be loved by those considering early childhood as a career path, those just starting out and the many experienced teachers and educators looking to support everyone around them.
This book…An Educators Handbook and Janice’s labour of love…is ultimately for the children.
Wishing you every success Janice,

Paula Cole - Bachelor of Teaching
Directed 3 Centres - Mentor
Educational Leader - Room Leader
My journey into Education began with an Associate Diploma in Social Studies, Children’s Services, then four years at University for a Bachelor of Teaching, each semester offering practicums of experience.
What I discovered after two degrees and multiple practicums, was that my experience of face to face teaching was at entry level at best. I knew the mechanics of teaching, but the real day to day knowledge would only come after many decades of teaching on the floor. It took me many years of trial and error to understand the full nature of this truly amazing career.
Being an Educator truly offers so many rewards, when you know what you’re doing! Working in different capacities, including twice being a Director, allowed me to gain insight into the value and importance of positive spaces and practices.
Janice has consulted with many Educators to collate years of experience to empower readers with discoverable education that only comes from real life working on the floor experiences. Common sense, practical and vital information shared from well versed educators who want the next generation of educators to succeed and enjoy their careers. The Handbook contains links and is a survival toolkit for new and current Educators.
This Handbook, is the perfect mentor for a new generation of educators to have as a supportive partner to guide their accumulated knowledge from their completed courses.

Lida writes - "I chose to become an educator because I’m genuinely passionate about helping children grow, learn and find new ways of thinking.
I believe that children are the future assets of a country, and by providing quality education and care we play a very important and positive part towards laying the foundation for a stronger society.
From this role, I learned how important an educators role is in shaping our next generation."
