An Educators Handbook

Where did
the idea for writing
"an Educators Handbook"
come from?

The idea to write a handbook came when I was supervising in the kindy playground, and I saw a new Educator seeking advice. I thought back on how I found out everything I needed to know for the role came in drips and drabs and how confusing it was. Then I thought, how helpful it would be if Educators had an easy quick-to-read handbook that gave an overview of the role.
It would be like putting a "mentor in their pocket!"
And so, I began extracting all the learning and on the job experiences I could think of and then asking colleagues what they thought would be helpful for a new Educator. Starting would be less overwhelming and it would give the children informed educators of their new role.
My aim in writing "an Educators Handbook" was to demystify all the 'what' and 'why' around the laws, regulations, policy & procedure, the EYLF, and the quality standards. I've compiled 10 years of learning and experiences into with a quick to read handbook outlining the governance of the role and how to navigate the tremendous amount of information there is to know.
The result? The children will now have educators confident in their role to care, educate and keep them safe.
I hope you find it easy to read and enjoy the helpful quick links to further learning about your role.

Lida writes - "I chose to become an educator because I’m genuinely passionate about helping children grow, learn and find new ways of thinking.
I believe that children are the future assets of a country, and by providing quality education and care we play a very important and positive part towards laying the foundation for a stronger society.
From this role, I learned how important an educators role is in shaping our next generation."

A little about
the author -
Janice Morris

Janice Morris is a curious and creative person. Janice is a Life Coach and a natural mentor, always helping others to aim higher for their future.
Her passion to help others has led her to becoming an author. She skillfully combines her natural ability to design with strategic thinking to create a solution, which is evident in her book, an Educators Handbook. With a diploma in child psychology and a wealth of experience as an early childhood educator, Janice is dedicated to educating educators on caring and teaching children aged 0-5 years. With an interest in people's learning styles, as a Trainer & Assessor, Janice brings a creative approach to her training and courses for educators.
Her career didn't start in education. Office work gave her a good grounding on how business is carried out. However, her preference to work outdoors led her to study horticulture where her design, organisational and people skills flourished.
At home, Janice is an artist, mother and dedicated grandmother. She volunteers her very little spare time to Rotary and other charities.
"There is always someone less fortunate than myself and a helping hand with a smile can go a long way."
